manmakemusics fifth release, a 10 inch vinyl-only ep, comes from u, the newest addition to the imprints expanding roster. unlike the labels first four outings that were aimed squarely at the dance floor, this record is a stranger and more pensive affair featuring 4 raw cuts of genre defiant electronica. opener >eah< borrows from 80s chicago house but strips out some of the more familiar tropes leaving just a guttural and infectious rhythm. >evil spirits< is a stuttering mournful piece while >haunted< flips a faintly recognisable sample over a shuffling 4x4 beat. the ep is rounded off with >heaven<, the most optimistic of the 4 tracks, and described by the artist as a warped homage to an idealised golden era of british dance music.

2014 repress !! we think we do not have to introduce sven weisemann, but for all of you who are not familiar with his work... sven has released on top labels such as delsin, smallfish, echocord, liebe detail and maybe the label he is mostly associated with is mojuba records, which is based in berlin. his release for telrae starts with elapse a track so detached from everything and at the same time so earthly, it gains that mystic touch some trax radiate. it is again a timeless track on telrae what we think is a quality we strive for. light sway seems harder at first but turns out to be more melodic and light than elapse and so the title fits it just right!

mooch recordings kicks off with the imperial street ep from quenum, the man behind cadenza and a back catalogue of hits across labels crosstown rebels, orac, soma, trapez, to name but a few. his his legendary set back in july cemented his place in the mooch hall of fame and also put him on the radar for the first ever release on the label. quenums hypnotic, groovers on this ep are just right in building up the night, riding through peak time and out the other end down at the afterparty. on remix duties we have invited tim xavier to weave his tech magic and add his signature harder, darker sound to this killer ep.

just 14 years old cologne native tim engelhardt is gifted with talent and skills others wont reach within decades. after his remix debut on the new vinyl-label playmusic productions, headed by andreas lindemann, tim comes up with his first solo release including 3 tracks for showing us what the definition of deep house really means. a perfect fusion of groovy soundscapes, rhythmic percussions, melodic piano hooks and epic synth pads is just the basic description of the complex timeless sounds he did. this kid gots real potential being a big one in the future, we should definitely keep an ear on it ...

4th release by 12records, presenting the new deep88 >removing dust< ep (taken from the forthcoming >removing dust< album that will be released later on this year). main single is a2 >the vibe<, a classic 90s beat made over a real melody, where vocals parts crossover and match each others, in two differents peaks, to create a whole >vibe< flow from the start till the end of the song. a1 is a test signal experiment, where samples take a different level, a sort of meta sample, a sample into a sample… well, have a listen, its easier to understand that way. bside is 3 tracks long, not a common practice in todays ep releases. b1 >grancartridge<, a moodymann house style raw song, b2 is even more raw sampling style, meanwhile b3 is a dreamy vocal house tune more common to deep88s style. the result is a mature ep, that ntroduces the 2nd deep88 album, always on 12records, and that will bring him into that >serious< realm of making house that is seen in some elite today (funny isn’t it… at the end it is just about music and we all have ears… maybe)... btw less marketing on our head, this 12inch wont be a coloured or hand written limited release, just the good old classic black one (yes it sounds better folks) and no limited copies… when is close to finish we will repress as usual.

usually, the purpose of a piece like this is to tell other writers, music mag editors, distribution people and record shop clerks why they should like a certain release and buy, hype, review it. often these encomiums are not really honest and sometimes you even feel like attending an attempt to sell a flat tire. as for i:cubes new longplayer m megamix things are – of course! – very different. being its fifth solo album, an introduction of a man like nicolas chaix or even his biography (another popular brick of sales sheets) seems rather unsuitable. if you dont know what you should know, just use your internet search engine with any of these terms: chateau flight, versatile records, french touch, disco cubizm or parisian prodigy.

michael ozone, the character whos just dropped his debut offering for the esp institute this july, is back with a remixed version of his jungle-tuff >perfect systems ep<. on side a, steve summers (a name thats been up in your face over the last year, and one of the key figures in our cousins l.i.e.s. camp) has taken perfect systems for an imperfect ride, jacking it up as expected while keeping the somewhat sinister mood of the original. on the flip, young marco (who has become quite a resident at the esp institute) strips down hetrotopia to its core, letting you realize how a well-programmed track can maintain its melodic and hypnotic sense, even when all thats left is percussion.
